Today, Mrs. Edita Stützová, née Lewinsohnová, born 12. II. 1911 in Karlovy Vary, residing in Karlovy Vary, Lesní no. 6, stopped by our office and made the following statement:

On November 10th, 1938, at 2 o’clock in the afternoon, the removal of all the Jews from Karlovy Vary began. Members of the former SDP organization, relying on apartment lists, barged into all of the apartments in which Jews lived and broke into the Jewish old people's home. The Jews were violently dragged from the old people's home and from their apartments and taken to the Střelnice hotel. After an hour-long wait, the Jews were loaded into vehicles and driven to the synagogue on Sadová Street, and were present when it was set on fire. After it burned down, the Jews were taken to the headquarters of the Gestapo and then to the Regional Court, where they remained for 6 weeks. They were then brought to the concentration camp in Olšová Vrata. After 6 weeks, I was released from custody in the Regional Court in Karlovy Vary, where I was held because I lived in a mixed marriage. However, my father Vítězslav Lewinsohn and all of my relatives were taken to the previously mentioned concentration camp. Since I went to see my father at the camp every day and brought him food, the conditions there were well known to me. The following was taken away from the Jews: all of their money, jewelry, and bankbooks. The executive body in charge was:

A German, Rödelbach, a tailor residing in Karlovy Vary on Londýnská Street in the Augarten house, which is currently located in the scrapyard in Nová Role. When the Jews were dragged away from the old people's home, they weren’t allowed to take anything with them, not even a coat, and they left behind all of their possessions. After they left, led by the above-mentioned Rödelbach, the old people's home was looted and everything in it was destroyed or stolen. The identity of the other perpetrators who took part in this looting is not known to me. I only know that the administrator of the concentration camp in Olšová Vrata was a German woman named Lüftnerová, who still lives in Karlovy Vary and could certainly provide more information about the conditions in the camp.

I hereby swear that everything in this statement is true and I am willing to provide more details if need be to the best of my knowledge.
